Artist: Best Coast

Album Title: Something In The Way

Reviewed by Amy Yee I-Ling

And so while we idle in our comfortable chairs and drink cold beer, wishing the beach wasn't too bare; or desolate, a drowsy-eyed Bethany Constantino (formerly of Pocohaunted), comes into our music boxes in a drenched form of 50's surf rock substance and noisy like fidgetiness. Now, don't fret. This was supposed to happen. She will kill time you know. And it's, oh, so apparent that releasing a bunch of songs about the ocean, the sun and of being a lazy creep will stick to the average procrastinator's play-list for a very, very, long time. Best Coast's newly released Something In The Way (EP) is a lethargic excuse for not doing anything. Shame—if your greedy like me, three beach pop melodies isn't quite enough to feast on (clicking the "repeat" button again and again and again appears to be the only way). Songs like "The Road","Something In The Way", and "Wish He Was You" will lick your heart; maybe you'll feel a little contrite, theirs the opportunity missed of relaxing on the beach; but at least theirs an alternative to this: Best Coast.
