Album Title: Escape Reviewed by Amy Yee I-Ling
Go on. Submerge yourself in Moon Duo's saturated bath of noisy psychedelic space rock—you won't feel disappointed. The first half of this album sounds more of a threat instead of a tender embrace. The track opener "Motorcycle, I Love You", which clocks in about 7 minutes, is drenched with hypnotic riff stylings and lo-fi rock. This could be perfect for the soundtrack of a 70's zombie film. If your left feeling a little flustered, paranoid, and uh, unexpectedly dead beat—it shows that your taking in the band very well. "In The Trees" starts off in a sublime manner, then gradually swells more in sound. The middle part of this tune is like putting your ear next to a sea shell and hearing the roaring ocean. Moon Duo sways on the listener to transcend beyond the normal range of the abstract mind; to think of imaginary films and dark eerie places. Fans of Moolah, Suicide, and Silver Apples will definitely enjoy this album.
